Billy Stitch: Supporting Education and Economic Growth in Promar, Cambodia

In 2017, before Billy Stitch Distillery was born, Dave and Steph crossed paths with Tola and his loving family during a farm stay in their village of Promar, Cambodia. It was here that they learnt of Tola's strong desire to not only be an advocate for education and learning within his own family, but also a strong desire to support the communities of surrounding villages. From this meaningful connection with Tola and his family, Steph and Dave committed to using their resources and opportunities to support the family, ensuring every child has access to education.

Cambodia has struggled to build its economy since Pol Pot. The COVID pandemic devastated the country, especially Siem Reap, as it relies heavily on tourism. As the borders were beginning to open, massive floods hit the region. It has not been easy for Tola's community. - David Hayes (Director of Billy Stitch Distillery)

Six years later, Billy Stitch Distillery was established, and founders Dave and Steph continued to support the Soun family in their educational journey. Reaksa ( future CEO) is currently studying at a business school in Phnom Penh, while Kanica and Srey Mai attend the Australian Center for Education in Siem Reap.

Although still a young business, Billy Stitch Distillery has made an incredible impact, contributing $25,404.35 in just two years since its founding. The distillery remains committed to empowering young people through education and supporting local businesses in Promar to drive economic growth.
